Together, we encourage young people to discover the joy of technology

The Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race is an initiative aimed at inspiring more young people to pursue a technical education, helping us recruit future talent in the long term. As an engineering company, we rely on the skills of our engineers – what they know and do is the core of our business and the key to our success.

Our greatest asset as a company is our people and the expertise they bring, and so we are deeply invested in maintaining a world-leading team of engineers, continuing Sweden’s proud tradition of global engineering. Sweden is a global hub for innovation, attracting engineers from across the world. Our success is rooted in the knowledge and skills we bring to innovation.

We already see a shortage of engineers and a declining interest among young people, particularly among girls, which is concerning. This presents a challenge for future recruitment, especially in maintaining and, ideally, increasing diversity in the industry. Diversity is essential to our success, particularly as we work with innovation. To create relevant products for our customers, we need a broad diversity of perspectives. This helps us stay at the forefront of technological development.

Innovation is not only rewarding but also fun. It means meeting different people facing challenges and problems, tackling unique obstacles, and developing solutions that improve everyday life and the world around us.

In the past, we have launched “Femmegineering” to highlight and promote female role models in the tech industry, sparking interest in technology among girls and young women. This new initiative has a broader focus and aims to engage children earlier – girls, boys, and those who may not have a role model in tech-related professions and education.

“Now is the time to inspire and engage tomorrow’s engineers, creators, and problem-solvers!”

We want to show that innovation isn’t something to be intimidated by. The best physics teachers are those who make learning enjoyable through experiments, rather than focusing solely on math. This hands-on approach provides students with a deeper understanding, and the same applies to engineering and innovation. There are many different areas of technology to explore, and teamwork is central – “never work alone” is our motto. You don’t have to know everything, because every perspective matters.

It's crucial that we keep driving innovation forward to sustain our standard of living. Sweden’s position as a leader in global innovation is something we must safeguard and continue to develop. And for Sweden to keep this position, we all need to do our part. Now is the time to inspire and engage tomorrow’s engineers, creators, and problem-solvers! Through initiatives like the Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race and our efforts to increase diversity, we are paving the way for an industry filled with fresh ideas and perspectives.

Whether you're a parent, teacher, engineer, or student, you can help make a difference. Encourage young people to discover the joy of technology, show them that innovation is fun and that their contributions are needed. We look forward to meeting and developing tomorrow’s talents. Together, we can shape a future where engineering not only solves problems but also improves lives.
