Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race – Meet jury member Magnus Liljeqvist
It’s time to introduce the next member of the Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race jury – Magnus Liljeqvist. Magnus is the Marketing Manager at Sigma Industry West Group where he works with business development, communication and marketing, employer branding, and much more. In short, he ensures the company is visible, that engineers want to join, that employees thrive and develop, and that the team has the tools and processes they need. Now, let’s get to know Magnus a little better and hear his thoughts on the competition.
Magnus is a trained mechanical engineer from Chalmers and began his career as a consultant in 2003, with several project management assignments within the automotive industry. After a few years, he moved into internal roles in marketing, events, and leadership development, later becoming Head of Marketing for the Nordic region at Alten. Since 2014, he has played a key role in building Sigma Industry West Group. With his creative spirit, Magnus enjoys creating experiences, whether through events or communication. His technical background also gives him a clear understanding of both the business and its customers.
When asked why he believes the Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race is such an important initiative, Magnus answers:
“Technological development is moving incredibly fast, and there is a great need for engineers and developers. Unfortunately, interest in technical education is declining, especially among girls, which will lead to a shortage of skills in the future. Innovation Race generates creative ideas and inspires problem-solving among children. It also shows the joy of working together and that technology is fun.”
Above all, he hopes that the competition will spark joy for problem-solving:
“I hope that the participants will experience the joy of solving problems and that the competition itself will ignite a spark in tomorrow’s innovators.”
Magnus hopes that the competition will spark participants’ interest in innovation and technology, while also strengthening teamwork and the experience of building something together.
When asked which innovation he couldn’t live without, Magnus replies:
“The car! I have loved cars since I was a child, and to me, they are so much more than just a means of transportation. Of course, the internet is also something I wouldn’t want to be without.”
And one unexpected fact about Magnus?
“I almost always drum on whatever I can – my legs, the steering wheel, a plate, the table… sometimes to the irritation of those around me. I’ve always been into music, mainly playing bass guitar, but I’ve probably spent more hours air-drumming than most people!”
