Test Leader / Sub Project Manager (R&D V&V)

Assignment description

For Hitachi Energy in Ludvika, we are now seeking an experienced Test Leader / Sub Project Manager to support R&D Verification & Validation (V&V) activities within the Transformers business unit.

You will play a key role in validating alternative fluids for On-Load Tap Changers (OLTC), driving structured and safe execution of mechanical, dielectric, and chemical testing across laboratory, small-scale, and full-scale environments.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role combining engineering, coordination, risk management, and data analysis.

Role Summary

As Test Leader / Sub Project Manager, you will:

• Drive operational execution of validation tests

• Coordinate laboratories, engineering specialists, and project stakeholders

• Ensure high-quality results, safety compliance, and structured documentation

• Act as sub project manager for the test stream within the qualification project

You will independently perform engineering duties requiring sound judgment and application of standard engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities 🔹 Test Planning & Coordination

• Develop detailed validation test plans (lab, small-scale, full-scale)

• Coordinate test rigs, samples, resources, and schedules

• Secure prerequisites and documentation before test start

• Manage day-to-day communication with labs and engineering teams

🔹 Test Preparation

• Prepare test objects, setups, and instrumentation

• Support dielectric simulations (e.g., COMSOL) when applicable

• Ensure compliance with IEC/IEEE standards and internal procedures

• Secure safe test areas and equipment

🔹 Test Execution

• Lead and participate in mechanical, dielectric, and chemical tests

• Ensure correct data capture and traceability

• Handle deviations, anomalies, and re-testing

🔹 Risk Management

• Lead and contribute to risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA)

• Ensure safety, environmental, and lab protocol compliance

🔹 Data Handling & Reporting

• Post-process and quality assure test data

• Summarize results, identify trends and deviations

• Prepare structured test reports

• Contribute to validation conclusions and technical reviews

🔹 Project Support

• Act as sub project manager for the test stream

• Track progress, report status, escalate risks

• Contribute to cost control and resource optimization

Required Qualifications Education & Background

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in:

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Materials Science

  • Testing & Validation

  • Or related field

OR

• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience with Bachelor/Master

• Alternatively, 15+ years of technical experience with another technical degree

Experience

• 3–8 years in:

  • Testing & validation

  • Industrial laboratory environments

  • Technical project coordination

• Experience with structured industrial test execution

• Experience in safety-critical environments

• Experience with data analysis & documentation

Technical Knowledge

• Mechanical, dielectric and/or chemical testing environments

• Knowledge of IEC / IEEE standards (advantage)

• COMSOL dielectric simulations (beneficial)

• Strong MS Office skills

Language

• Working command of English (mandatory)

• Swedish is an advantage
