JOB OVERVIEW

Sigma Connectivity is seeking an Acoustic Measurement/Technician Engineer. You will be part of the acoustic design and development team, working in different phases of product development to create the best possible user experience from an audio perspective. As part of your daily work, you will be prototyping and evaluating new audio technologies and collecting measurement data on consumer electronic devices in development. The role involves validation through acoustic measurements and user studies, helping to drive product specifications to support feature implementation. As part of our team, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (software, hardware integration, user interaction).

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct audio and acoustical measurements (frequency, distortion, impedance, etc. across acoustical and electrical domains).
  • Conduct acoustic measurements using HATS in various environments, including anechoic and reverberant test chambers. Test electronics and DSP for audio quality, speech intelligibility, SNRi, distortion, transfer function, etc.
  • Ability to create and follow test procedures, present and categorize results data. Help to introduce new test methods and integrate them into our data management system.
  • Create, categorize, and validate result data supporting projects with tight, fixed timelines
  • Follow and define test procedures, work in a detail-oriented manner to ensure repeatability and reproducibility of results
  • Maintain a functional and organized laboratory environment, bring up maintenance and improvement needs

Basic qualifications

Education

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Acoustics, Audio Technology, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Experience

  • Hands on experience of 3 or more years with audio hardware testing
  • Familiarity with audio lab tools such as HATS, measurement microphones, and at least some of Head Acoustics ACQUA, Audio Precision, Listen Inc Soundcheck
  • Effective communication, documentation, and presentation skills
  • Learning ‘ownership’ attitude with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge or interest in hearing science and psychoacoustics to better understand testing results
  • Experience with laser displacement meters like Keyence and Polytec, or Klippel tools
  • Experience in scripting such as MATLAB, Python

Preferred / Plus Qualifications

  • Knowledge or interest in hearing science and psychoacoustics to better understand testing results
  • Experience in audio, acoustics, critical listening
  • Experience with Klippel, laser displacement meters like Keyence and Polytec, electrical and power measurements a bonus
  • Experience in scripting such as MATLAB, Python, Max a bonus.

We offer

The annual salary range for this role is $120,000 – $160,000 per year.

The Annual Salary depends upon various job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
