Mechanical Engineer (Multiple Openings)
Job description
Design and develop mechanically integrated components and systems for consumer hardware products, including planning, prototyping, testing, and supporting manufacturing of electro-acoustic equipment. Utilize architectural and audio transducer design and integration influence on their acoustic custom speaker modules. Contribute to the development of the next cutting-edge social-first hardware devices across AR/VR/Home. Explore and develop early ideas, prototypes for the mass-production of consumer electronics. Work as part of a cross-functional team requiring collaboration and curiosity in the domains of mechanical and electroacoustic engineering. Utilize mechanical engineering fundamentals, prototyping skills, CAD fluency, manufacturing process knowledge, and experience designing consumer electronics. Work with acoustic transducer design engineers you frame qualitative experiences to quantitative data during deep cross-functional dialogs to balance a given form factor with acoustic performance, reliability, power consumption, and cost. Lead complex micro-plastic mechanical solutions such as audio micro-speaker modules using insert-molded steel plates and acoustic meshes Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and establish test systems for mechanical validations Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping high volume products Leverage external teams (CM/JDM/Vendors) to maximize the focus of our internal resources on adding value and differentiation to our products. Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems. Communicate trade-offs, program concerns, and technical direction. Factory prototype production support (onsite and/or offsite).
Location: 900 Discovery Way, Sunnyvale, CA 94089. International travel to Asia required up to 20% of the time for overseeing first of tools (FOT) at vendors and build validations.

Basic qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field of study; will accept equivalent of foreign degree.
Experience: Five (5) years of experience in the position above or in a related mechanical engineering role.
Experience must include:
- 3D CAD, NX, GD&T and statistical tolerance analysis for high-density consumer electronics.
- DFM/DFA and high-volume manufacturing including injection molding, machining and metal stamping.
- Designing and developing compact consumer electronic products; and
- Testing and validation including ESD-aware design, DOE, mold-flow analysis, ingress protection (IP45-IP-68) and design for testability.
