This role involves mechanical design engineering with a focus on using CAD tools, particularly CATIA, to develop and manage 2D and 3D mechanical models and drawings. The position requires integrating components from partner facilities, participating in system assembly and machine installation, maintaining technical documentation, and ensuring quality control in manufacturing processes. The engineer will also be responsible for reviewing mechanical drawings and ensuring adherence to design standards and tolerancing norms. Strong autonomy, adaptability, and effective communication skills are essential for managing shifting project priorities and delivering high-quality results on time.

• Integrate components designed in partner facilities and manage their integration into the main CAD model
• Participate in system assembly, machine installation, and related operations
• Generate, maintain, and update 2D drawings in CATIA environment and archive them using CAD management software tools
• Convert 3D models to 2D designs and vice versa, based on requirements input
• Produce and update conceptual, draft, detailed, and manufacturing 2D drawings and 3D models in CATIA V6
• Produce, update, and review technical documentation
• Provide installation coordination on site including generating 2D installation drawings and documentation
• Follow-up manufacturing of components, monitor production performance, and conduct engineering quality and acceptance inspections
• Document and present engineering work as appropriate
• Review mechanical engineering drawings and packages, ensuring compliance with standardization norms and codes including GPS tolerancing and ISO standards
• Self-manage and prioritize work independently

Basic qualifications:

• Higher Technical or University engineering degree in mechanical engineering or closely equivalent engineering degree
• Minimum 5 years of CAD mechanical design engineering experience
• Minimum 3 years of working experience in CATIA design
• Knowledge of basic mechanical engineering
• Experience with design maturity, versioning and release
• Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and its application to production drawings
• Excellent oral and written English skills

Preferred additional skills, personal traits, experience:

• Experience in scientific facility environments
• Experience with micrometric tolerancing and precision production methods
• Knowledge of maintenance and installation drawings
• Knowledge of technical documentation and configuration management
• Experience designing mechanical apparatuses for specialized environments such as accelerators and detectors
• Engineering experience with radiation background, vacuum, pressure, gas flow, magnetic field, low-frequency radiofrequency, high temperature, cryogenic, or electrical and electronics technologies
• Experience in mechanical design supervision
• Experience with acceptance testing
• Good communication skills and ability to identify and solve issues proactively
• Knowledge of other European languages
