Role purpose

The Vice President of R&D leads the company’s hardware and software development organization, ensuring high‑quality customer delivery while building long‑term technical capability and organizational strength. The role owns R&D strategy, execution, and people leadership in a consultancy environment where flexibility, technical excellence, and customer trust are critical.

You will lead a dynamic team of managers with responsibility for areas like PCB Design, Android Device Software development, Edge Device Development, Radio and Antenna development, etc.

Your team is in our HQ in Lund. You will work with different projects closely together with the team members and various stakeholders within the organization, as well as customers. As a leader, you will drive and motivate a highly experienced team, and you will encourage them to take personal responsibility. You define individual and organization goals for all team members and support them to succeed in their daily work.

You will report to the CEO and be a member of the Senior leadership team, you work strategically together with your fellow colleagues.

The main tasks are:

Working together with Sales across Market Units to build strong customer and partner relationships.

Be part of Customer discussions, Quotation work and Project steering group to secure quality of delivery including accurate Quotations. Be part of pricing discussions with sales organization.

Responsible for Budget and Gross Margin for R&D.

Ability to provide strategic input for overall R&D development department to engineers, Sales and Senior Managers.

Manage line activities including performance management, salary reviews, competence and development.

Responsible for Recruiting and Building High performance teams.

Together with colleagues, set and drive long term strategic goals for the organization (eg AR/VR) and engage with partners.

Approximately 20 travelling days per year, mostly within Sweden and Europe is part of the job.

Responsibilities

Strategy and capability development

  • Define and execute R&D strategy across hardware and software, aligned with company objectives
  • Build long‑term technical capabilities in core domains such as embedded systems, connectivity, cloud, mobile platforms, electronics, antenna/RF, and verification
  • Ensure software and hardware offerings are clearly positioned and well understood internally and externally

Delivery and execution

  • Own technical delivery across customer engagements, ensuring quality, scope control, and customer satisfaction by working closely with Project Management Office.
  • Oversee staffing, utilization, and capacity planning across hardware and software teams
  • Drive structured collaboration between hardware and software organizations

Engineering excellence

  • Promote strong engineering standards, architecture, and best practices and work with the PMO to constantly improve our development processes
  • Sponsor modernization initiatives including tooling, automation, and improved development workflows
  • Drive responsible adoption of modern development tools (including AI‑supported development where approved)

Partnerships and cross‑functional alignment

  • Work closely with Sales, Business Development, the project Management Office (PMO) and Partnerships to align technical capabilities with market demand
  • Support strategic partner initiatives and technology collaborations
  • Collaborate with labs and industrialization leadership to strengthen end‑to‑end delivery

People leadership

  • Lead and develop engineering managers and senior technical leaders
  • Build a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Drive recruitment and competence development in line with current and future demand

Communication

  • Communicate R&D priorities, progress, and risks clearly to management team and the wider organization
  • Provide structured R&D updates and contribute to organizational alignment

Skills and experience

Required

  • Masters degree in Computer science or electronics or any other relevant field.
  • 10+ years of experience in relevant industries.
  • Senior leadership experience across hardware and software development
  • Strong technical background with the ability to guide senior engineers and managers
  • Experience working in an engineering consultancy or services environment
  • Proven ability to scale teams, lead leaders, and balance short‑term delivery with long‑term capability
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Experience with connected devices, verification labs, compliance, and industrialization
  • Exposure to modern development tooling and platform ecosystems
